Base BQN Construction

FAQs:

  • Where can I find more detailed info? Updates for Phase 1 (utilities) are on the Caddell Nova Website. Phase 2 (rebuild) updates will be included in this email. Our housing office will relay information to all base residents.

  • Why are so many roads closed? We are upgrading utilities to underground systems, requiring excavation. Traffic to NE Rd is reduced for child safety. 6th Street is an active construction site, limiting access to other contractors. Please allow an extra 5 minutes for your commute.

  • Why is it so loud? Drilling through bedrock creates significant noise. Construction ends at 1800 daily, ensuring quiet hours thereafter. Noise levels were surveyed and are within safe OSHA standards.

  • What to do during outages? Outages caused by scheduled Coast Guard work will be communicated ahead of time. If an outage occurs that was not already communicated, it is an emergency outage and Fac Eng will coordinate with the utility company to get an estimated repair time. Outages from planned utility companies can be found here:

    • LUMA: Planned Improvements - Luma Energy (lumapr-com.translate.goog).

    • AAA: please see the “Acueductospr” Facebook page.

    • If we have an extended power outage, we will start “generator rest periods” between 0800-1300 daily for maintenance and equipment rest coordinated by engineering staff. Residents shall not turn on or off generators during this time. This can lead to mechanic injuries and potential removal from base housing.
